Travel Health Tips

No matter where you’re headed, a visit to your pharmacist will help you get prepared to enjoy every minute of your trip. Take your pharmacist’s advice to protect your health, anytime and anywhere.

During your pre-travel consultation, your pharmacist will tell you which medications to bring with you to relieve minor health symptoms, such as motion sickness, earaches, jet lag or digestive problems. These precautions will help you stay as healthy as possible during your trip so that you can enjoy every minute. Your pharmacist can also give you enough of your prescription medication to last your entire trip and can provide you with an updated list of your prescriptions.

Some medications are subject to special restrictions for transport or to get through customs. Check with your pharmacist for more information.

TRAVEL VACCINES AND MEDICATIONS
Planning a trip? Depending on where you’re going, you may need to get recommended vaccines or take medications with you for specific health problems. To travel with peace of mind, see your pharmacist, who is your passport to health!

Depending on your travel plans, destination and health condition, your pharmacist can advise you about any recommended vaccines you should get. At some pharmacies, a nurse is available to administer vaccines against diseases such as hepatitis A and B, typhoid fever, and meningitis.

Your pharmacist can also prescribe medications to treat traveller's diarrhea or prevent malaria or acute mountain sickness (or “altitude sickness”). This service is generally offered by appointment.

TRAVEL HEALTH KIT
See your pharmacist to put together a first aid kit that will protect you from both minor ailments and serious health threats during your trip.

Whether you’re travelling for business, leisure or adventure, make sure you take a first aid kit along with you! Your pharmacist can help you put together the items that are best for you and your family’s needs.

In addition to the usual gauze and bandages, your kit should contain basic medications that you may need during your travels, such as painkillers, antihistamines, antacids, and an antiseptic. Your pharmacist can give you personalized advice for your needs and health condition.

Depending on your destination, you may also need to pack bug spray and sunscreen. Don’t hesitate to ask your pharmacist about the best products to take to your specific destination and how to use them effectively.
